Necevski flys high for Sky Blues

Sky Blues keeper Ivan Necevski played a starring role in Sydney FC’s strong performance against EPL side Everton at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.

Sydney FC goalkeeper Ivan Necevski turned in an outstanding performance against English Premier League outfit Everton at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night and feels massive preseason games such as that will leave the Sky Blues primed for their A-League title defence.

Necevski made a number of excellent saves and was strong in the air, defusing a number of dangerous crosses said he felt at ease against some of the world-s most feared players.

“I felt really comfortable out there under the cross and I made a couple of early saves and it is good to get my hands on the ball nice and early in the game as well and not wait to. I felt confident,” Necevski said.

“I thought we did pretty well tonight. This is a totally different level. Obviously it is going to do us a world of good playing against strong opposition for the new A-League season.

“There are new teams coming in and other teams have become much stronger too.
“We need to step up this year and defend the title.”

The 28-year-old said he had been thinking about his opposition in the lead up to the match that attracted over 40,000 fans but once he crossed the white line it was business as usual.

“You always have your mind on it [Everton-s players] because they are world class players but when you-re out there you concentrate on your game and what your team is doing,” Necevski said.

“They are big, strong and quick but we will take a lot of positives out of the game and will sit down and watch the video and see where we can improve.”
