Austrian International captain Marc Janko joined Sydney FC as the club’s international marquee for the 2014/15 Hyundai A-League season on Thursday 31st July, 2014.

The 1.96 metre striker signed a one year deal with the Sky Blues.  A regular goal-scorer during his career, the former Porto, FC Twente and Trabzonspor forward has also played 40 times for his country, scoring 17 times.

The 31 year old striker is one of Austrian football’s most recognisable players having scored 75 goals in 108 appearances during a five year career at Red Bull Salzburg.  During that time he helped them lift three Bundesliga titles.

Janko joined FC Twente in 2010 scoring 24 times in 45 games, including the winner in the Dutch Cup against Ajax.  He moved to FC Porto in January 2012 where his 8 goals in 12 matches helped the club lift the Portuguese championship.  A switch to Trabzonspor in Turkey in August 2012 followed but the big striker had trouble settling in and is delighted by the opportunity at Sydney FC.
