Sydney FC marquee man Alessandro Del Piero says he is living in the moment as he helped launch the Hyundai A-League-s Summer of Football at Bondi-s famous Icebergs club.

Even at one of Sydney-s most iconic beaches Del Piero-s mind was solely on the tasks at hand this season, starting with the away trip to Wellington Phoenix on Sunday at Westpac Stadium (kick off 5pm AEDT).

“At the moment I-m really focused about our season,” Del Piero said.

“I want to change between last season and this one, the results on the field for the team and I don-t want to think about nothing away from this moment.

“We are happy we-re in a good moment for sure, we don-t forget what is our target,” he continued.

“It doesn-t end here but day by day and that-s why we have to think about. Phoenix is the next game for us away for sure it will be tough.”

With the Sky Blues set to play three games in 12 days Alessandro has done the maths and wants to play the full amount of game time on offer over this festive period.

“270 minutes I hope. I really don-t know,” he said.

“The focus has to be what is the best thing to do, because we have to analyse step by step what happens around us.

“A lot of the players play all the games but I don-t know. This is trouble for Frank not for me.”
With Christmas fast approaching Del Piero and his family are hoping to bring a little bit of Turin to their Australian Christmas celebrations.

“In our family we prepare the snow, artificial snow,” Del Piero said.

“We spend our time outside in this beautiful weather in Sydney and my family want to live the Australian atmosphere for this period of the year.

“Last time was a great experience, this year I hope will be better but the most important thing is to stay with my family.”

The Summer of Football will take in 16 matches in 17 days and the Sky Blues first action in it will take place on Boxing Day as Sydney FC face the first placed Brisbane Roar at Allianz Stadium (kick off 7:30pm).
