Sydney FC and Study NSW’s Learn, Earn & Thrive project held its first event of three universities – the Social Development Session on Thursday 29th April 2021 at Macquarie University Sports Fields.
The day was a great success with Macquarie University students getting the chance to meet other students and engage in a range of activities and games led by Sydney FC staff.
Students had a fun time working in teams to win life-skills activities that focused on communication, teamwork and leadership.
The skills they learnt in the workshops were then brought together where students played against each other in a friendly social football competition. Congratulations to the winning team of the day, Team-O Werner.
Those with winning performances throughout the event were awarded Under Armour prize packs, and all students were recipients of a two-game Sydney FC membership and a series of factsheets aimed at helping students navigate their careers in the Australian workforce during and after their studies.
We look forward to rolling out the next event at Macquarie University, the Coach Education Session, where the students will learn new skills that may assist in gaining casual employment whilst studying – and to the upcoming events at the University of NSW and University of Wollongong.
