New Sydney FC signing Kosta Barbarouses admits he can’t wait to pull on the Sky Blue when he takes to the pitch as a Sydney FC player for the first time tomorrow night.

Steve Corica’s squad will play their first friendly match of the season against Dunbar Rovers from the NPL NSW Men’s 3 at Leichhardt Oval (kick off 7.30pm).

Barbarouses made the switch from Hyundai A-League rivals Melbourne Victory back in June and is eager to get back on the field.

“It’s been a couple of months now since I last played a game, so it will be good to get those movements going again,” said the 29 year old.

“We’ve been working really hard at training with the ball and hopefully I will get a few goalscoring chances on Thursday and find the back of the net again which will be good for me.

“I need some metres in the legs as there’s still a long way to go but it will be good to get a hit out and familiarise myself with my new team mates.”

Barbarouses and the squad also have a game against St. George FA lined up for next Tuesday night at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium (kick off 7.30pm) before travelling to China to play French giants Paris Saint-Germain a week later, a game he says he’s looking forward to immensely.

“It’s great, it came as a bit of a surprise to us as a playing group, so we’re really looking forward to it,” he continued.

“We’re going to treat it like a bit of a mini-getaway to break up training here and obviously they’ve got some absolute superstars in the team so it will be good to come up against them.”

All proceeds from Sydney FC’s home friendly pre-season matches will go to the Sydney FC Foundation which helps with junior football development.
