Returning Westfield Matilda Alanna Kennedy said she’s thrilled to be home as she returns to the Sky Blues for the Westfield W-League 2018/19 season.

The towering defender said playing under Head Coach Ante Juric, who mentored her in High School and with the national team, would prove fruitful as she set her sights on silverware for the season ahead.

“I have been coached by Ante going way back to the start of high school and also with the Matildas,” Kennedy said.

“My experiences with him as a coach have been great and I’m looking forward to working with him again at Sydney FC.

“Sydney is home for me, so I’m very happy to be home at a great club and around a lot of my close friends,” she continued.

“I have my family here and I have always enjoyed my time at Sydney FC and I love being a part of a successful team and club that cares about their players.”

Kennedy said she was excited by the team the Sky Blues were building for season 2018/19 as she said the squad fills her with confidence for a successful season.

The Sky Blues have confirmed six Westfield Matildas as part of their squad for the new season, alongside a host of Young Matildas and young talent, with international signings still to join the fold.

“Sydney FC has always been a team full of talented players, with a mix of experience and youth,” she said.

“I’m excited to be able to return to such a competitive environment with the addition of some quality international players also still to come.

“I feel confident in the players we have recruited on top of the special group the club had last year.”
