Tottenham striker Harry Kane was impressed by the contest Sydney FC provided on the pitch on Saturday night and was in awe of the support the club has received during their Australia trip.
The 21-year-old was the difference at ANZ Stadium, scoring the game’s solitary goal to help his side claim the AIA Cup in front of over 70,000 fans.

“It’s always nice to keep scoring,” a humble Kane said after the match. “Whenever I step onto the pitch that’s my job and that’s what I want to do.
“I thought both teams created good chances. It was a good game to watch from a fan’s point of view so I hope we put on a good show for them.
“There was great support and great atmosphere.”
Kane’s winner was his 34th goal of the season across all competitions but the prolific talisman agreed the Sky Blues were a real handfull.
“They (Sydney) had a few good players. The centre-halfs were good, the winger no.11 (Bernie Ibini) was quite tricky and had a few skills.
“They were a solid team unit and they made it hard for us to break them down and that’s why there’s only a 1-0 scoreline.”
The England international will now enjoy a week-off before linking with his U-21 teammates for the UEFA U-21 Championship being staged in the Czech Republic.
While his manager Mauricio Pochettino is conscious of the huge workload Kane has shouldered in a break-out season, the prodigious talent said it was the key to his success.
“It’s been a crazy 12 months for me but I’ve loved every minute,” said Kane.
“Hopefully it’s not the end it’s just the start and I keep progressing and there are better things to come.
“Work hard and have self belief. That’s what I had – I’ve always had. I’ve always been a hard worker and I think it’s important.”
Kane had one last word for Sydney FC’s captain on the night Ivan Necevski, who was playing his last game for the Sky Blues, upon hearing the goalkeeper was an Arsenal fan.
“He pulled off some good saves but I got one past him in the end.”
