Sydney FC centre half Matthew Jurman has signed a new two year deal with the club which will last until the end of 2016/17 season.
The two time Championship winner will enter his sixth season with the Sky Blues, having joined as a youth player on his way to also winning the inaugural 2008/09 National Youth League title.
The early part of the 25 year old’s 2014/15 campaign was interrupted by illness and injury, however since the turn of the year Jurman became an integral part of the Sky Blues Hyundai A-League resurgence, and has been rewarded with a new deal.
“I’m very happy to be staying at the club for another two years,” said the double winning defender.
“It’s the biggest club to play for in the Hyundai A-League and I’ve a feeling we are building something special so I want to be a part of that.
“Sydney is my home and this club feels like a family to me. There is a very good bond among everyone at the club and we are all ambitious to achieve big things in the new season.”
Head Coach Graham Arnold praised the attitude and work rate of the versatile defender.
“Matt has worked very hard to come back to full fitness and the results showed in his performances in the past few months.
“He is an excellent professional and his game is improving all of the time so I’m delighted to be able to offer him an extension to his deal.
“He will continue to be a vital player for us and I look forward to enjoying success with him in the future.”
Jurman won the Premiership and Championship double with Sydney FC in the Hyundai A-League 2009/10 season and went on to win another Championship with Brisbane Roar in 2011/12.
He has played 63 times for the Sky Blues scoring three goals.
