Lachlan Hughes from St Aloyisus was awarded the Golden Boot after scoring 10 goals in the five matches.

The Sydney FC Schools Cup is the latest initiative in Sydney FC-s Community Program and saw junior players from six Private Schools from Sydney-s North, East and West take part in the round robin competition.

Sydney Grammar and St Joseph-s battled out the final in wet conditions after getting past The King-s School, Redlands, Shore School and St Aloysius in the round robin stages.

Sydney FC Acting CEO Stefan Kamasz said the event was a success and announced the tournament would be expanded in coming years.

“This was the inaugural Sydney FC Schools Cup and we-d like to thank the six schools for taking part in what was a great day of grassroots football,” Kamasz said. “In the coming years we will be expanding on the competition to include more schools.

“The Sydney FC Schools Cup is an important Event in what has been a very important and successful season for our Community Program. We have increased our Community Engagement significantly right across Sydney this year and that will step up another level going forward.”

The Sydney FC Schools Cup follows Sydney FC-s work in schools, which has seen players take part in the “Scoring for Health” and the “PFA Heroes Program” at Primary Schools and High Schools in Sydney throughout the last 12 months.
