Sydney FC marquee man Marc Janko is set to play in his first official game for the Sky Blues on Saturday night in the Sydney Derby at Allianz Stadium (kick off 7:30pm).
Janko, who returned from international duty early after being sent off in his last game, is set to feature in his first ever Sydney Derby, and the Austrian is hopeful of pleasing the fans as he looks to open up his Hyundai A-League account.
“It’s not only about the Derby this weekend but it’s also my first official game for the club,” Janko said.
“I’m highly looking forward to the game. I got told it’s a big game here, it’s going to be a big crowd and I would love to fulfil their expectations and I hope that we can get 3 points.
“I regret what I did in the [Austria] game, I regret it 100% but the positive thing about it is that I can be available for Sydney for the upcoming games. Every downside has its upside.”
Janko is confident he can find the back of the net after displaying his goal scoring prowess countless times throughout his career, and the six foot five striker said he’s enjoying his time with the harbour city club.
“Sydney FC is a highly professional club,” he said.
“I think they’re the biggest club in Australia and my impressions didn’t prove me wrong. Everything at the club is highly professional, planned and I’m very happy to be here.
“There is a quote that says ‘life is happening while you’re making plans’ so I wasn’t planning to do such a step at this stage of my career but I don’t regret it and I’m very happy to be here at this big club.
“For a striker it’s always important to be scoring goals,” he continued.
“But my main objective is that the team is winning and the title so I don’t mind if I only score five and we win the Championship. I can live with that quite well.”
