Janjetovic Is Sky Blue

For a self-confessed “Westie” there is no doubt Sydney FC goalkeeper Vedran Janjetovic bleeds Sky Blue and there will be no love lost between his geographical home and the club he represents on Saturday night at Allianz Stadium (kick off 7:45pm).

Growing up in the Western Suburbs, Janjetovic played for a host of western junior clubs but has spent the bulk of his career at Sydney FC and the shot stopper said the whole squad is well prepared for what will be a massive match.

“The boys have been excellent in training this week,” he said.

“Everyone-s buzzing, everyone-s ready to go. They are our biggest rival, it-s big game for us we-re sitting sixth on the ladder every game from now on we need points for us.

“I grew up in the West and I-m considered a Westie so I-m playing for the opposite team, but I-ve made my living here, I-ve started here and I-m going to continue to be loyal to this team.

“My heart stays here.”

For Sydney FC to take bragging rights in this massive clash Janjetovic knows the squad will need the whole stadium behind them, and he called on the Members and fans to turn out in their droves to cheer the Sky Blues on to victory.

“You always want to get one over your rivals,” said Janjetovic.

“We haven-t won one in a while so it-d be very very nice to get us a win and the three points and for the crowd as well.

“We-re expecting a big crowd hopefully everyone gets out there all our members, everyone to support us, it means a lot so if we can bring back the three points it-ll help everyone out.

“The noise from our guys has been fabulous all year round, they-re doing a great job for us and it helps us a lot so the more that can come out tomorrow the better for us,” he continued.

“Every week they inspire us, they come out support us, they take time off to come see us they do everything for us so for us to give them three points any game is big and we want to do it this week.”
