Sydney FC shot stopper Vedran Janjetovic isn’t perturbed by the Melbourne Victory’s unbeaten streak and is confident the Sky Blues can achieve a positive result in Saturday night’s match (kick off 7:30pm).
The Sky Blues take on the Victory at Etihad Stadium and Janjetovic believes that result will play on the minds of some of the Victory players ahead of the anticipated encounter.
“The confidence is up at the moment,” he said.
“We’ve been training hard during the week to prepare for this game. We know what Victory is like and what they are going to throw at us.
“The fact they are unbeaten isn’t going to throw us or stop us playing our brand of football. The boys have got a good atmosphere in the camp and we’re ready to go there and take 3 points off them.
“We’ll take that [5-0 win] any day if we can get that again this week,” he continued.
“I’m sure the boys would be wrapped to get a result like that and I’m sure it will still play in the back of their minds a little bit but they’re just as professional as we are and I’m sure they’ll be taking it game by game as well.”
Janjetovic called for as many fans as possible to travel to Melbourne for the match as the Croatian born goalkeeper expects a strong competition in the stands and on the field.
“The rivalry is always there between us,” he said.
“Our fans are fierce competitors but theirs are going to be there in full force as well so it’s something that we are going to shut out.
“Hopefully our guys come down as well to give us the support we need for the game.”
