Janjetovic Bangs Drum Ahead Of Victory Clash

While the Sydney Derby dominates the Sydney sporting landscape, Sky Blue shot stopper Vedran Janjetovic re-enforced the notion that people from Sydney don’t like Melbourne as the two states come together tomorrow night at Allianz Stadium (kick off 7:30pm).

Janjetovic said he was pleased with the Sky Blues form so far as he seeks his fourth clean sheet in a row, however he stressed that Saturday’s clash will be a tough encounter with the Victory arriving in similar form to Sydney FC.

“It’s a big spectacle for everyone,” he said.

“We all know the love between Sydney and Melbourne so it’s going to be another good one. Anyone from Sydney will tell you they don’t like people from Melbourne and vice-versa.

“For me I’m not really phased I just have to concentrate on doing a job out on the park.

“I’m happy with my form. We do a lot of training with Spider and Davide so I concentrate on myself as much as I can to do what I can for the team on the day,” he continued.

“We’re both still undefeated and they’re a strong unit as well and I can’t wait to see what happens tomorrow. Whatever they’ve got to throw at us I’m pretty sure we’ll do the job.”

While Terry Antonis is ineligible to play, Janjetovic believes the Sky Blues will be able to cope as he praised the squad’s depth with Shane Smeltz likely to start with marque Marc Janko absent.

“We’d all love for Terry to play but that’s out of our control,” he said.

“We’ve got depth, so I’m comfortable that the boys can do the job and we’ve got confidence in every single player in the squad and the coaching staff.

“As long as we go out there and perform our best and take out the instructions we’ll get the win.

“I’m sure Shane will come on and do what he needs to do for the squad,” he continued.

“Just look at his history, he can score goals from anywhere so we’ve got confidence in him as well.”
