Sydney FC goalkeeper Vedran Janjetovic is eagerly anticipating his clash with the Hyundai A-League-s in form striker Adam Taggart this Saturday as the Sky Blues get set to host the Newcastle Jets at Allianz Stadium (kick off 7:45pm).

Taggart leads the A-League scoring charts for this season with six goals after his hat trick at the weekend, however Janjetovic is confident he can deal with any threat the Jets- front man may produce.

“I watched the game last night and he scored three good goals,” he said.

“He-s on fire and Newcastle are looking good as well so it-s going to be a very good game for us.

“He-s going from strength to strength each game. He-s working hard and you can tell that on the pitch.

“All the best to him but I hope he doesn-t score this week.”

Janjetovic is confident that the Sky Blues defence can hold true in the wake of Pedj Bojic-s suspension and has already mapped out a plan to contain the young Socceroo.

“Just have someone on him 24/7,” Janjetovic said.

“Follow him throughout the whole game and take him out of the game. Don-t let the ball get to him especially in and around the box.

“We-ve got depth in our squad. There some young guys coming through, we-ve got Marc Warren coming back and we-ve got Matt Jurman who is ready to go as well so I-m sure whoever steps in is going to do the job [defensively],” he continued.

“We-re looking alright and we-re not going to worry about it too much. It-s unfortunate Pedj has to miss a week but we-ve done it before and we-ll do it again.”

The Sky Blues last met the Jets in the season opening round and ran out convincing 2-0 winners, but Janjetovic feels that you can-t read too much into such an early fixture, although he is hoping for a repeat of the strong crowd.

“The first round game is always tough to take anything out of,” he said.

“We scored two goals and kept a clean sheet, so we-ll just go from there.

“We-ll watch a few videos during the week and we-ll watch the last few games and see where we can get them.

“The crowd are our 12th man,” he continued.

“Every week when we-re at home they help us immensely and another big crowd would help us so much, so I hope everyone comes out there and comes down to the game.

“It-s going to be massive. The more people down there the better for us.”
