Sydney FC rising star Hagi Gligor is hoping to make a big impression on A-League fans next season when he lines up alongside the biggest names in the competition.

The youngster, who turned 17 last month, has been handed a 1st team contract by the club and was voted the National Youth League Player of the Year by his teammates.

“It feels really great, I-m really happy with the award. I just want to thank all the boys for voting for me and all the coaches. I-m just really happy,” he said.

Gligor received the award at Sydney FC-s Sky Blue Ball after a string of fine performances during the 2011/12 National Youth League season.

“I-m very happy with my performances week in, week out,” said the teenager. “I think I was pretty consistent.”

Hagi will get a chance to showcase his skills on the A-League stage next season, after joining fellow youth players Mitch Mallia and Daniel Petkovski on senior contracts.

And after just one season at youth level, the St Mary-s youngster hopes A-League fans will enjoy his talents next year.

“[I-ll] hopefully just be keeping it simple, just passing the ball around really simply and hopefully [being] passionate. I like to show that I enjoy football and I hope they [the fans] like me.
