Hoole Edging For Jets Start

Coming up against his former club on Friday night, Sydney FC new boy Andrew Hoole has his sights set on a starting berth as the Sky Blues prepare to face the Newcastle Jets at Allianz Stadium (kick off 7:40pm).

Hoole has made five appearances for the Sky Blues off the bench so far in the 2015/16 season and he said he’d love nothing more than to start against his former employers as he hinted that he’s coming into form following a disrupted start to the season with national team commitments and suspension.

“It would be great to start the match but I’ve got to listen to the instructions the coaching staff put in front of me and do my job,” Hoole said.

“I don’t want to look into it too much, you want to start as many games as possible, not just because it’s my former club.

“It’s been a bit slow going at the moment, I haven’t got the minutes in that I would have liked,” he continued.

“Just trying to get those minutes is key and just getting more game time and match fitness as well, it’s been slow going but I think I’m slowly coming in to things now.”

With a number of impressive defensive displays, Hoole said the only thing missing from the Sky Blues attack was that final ball as he urged the fans to turn out in numbers to cheer on the squad on Friday night.

“At this stage I think all that’s missing is that final pass and knowing each other’s game more,” he said.

“There’s some new faces in the team, in the front third especially, so it’s about becoming more familiar with each other and getting that final pass right but I’m sure with the training we will work on that and it will get better.

“I think the crowds could have been bigger for the first eight rounds,” he continued.

“I think it’s been low for Sydney FC standards but we haven’t been helped by the weather and some of the scheduling, however I think Friday night is going to be a good match and good weather.

“We’re heading in to the weekend so I think everyone should definitely come to the match because it’s going to be a good spectacle.”
