Sydney FC fullback Michael Zullo believes there’s even more room for improvement despite the Sky Blues’ strong start to the 2017/18 season.
The team have gained seven points from three games to make the strongest start to an A-League title defence since the 2011-2012 season, as Zullo asserts that the Sky Blues will only get even better.
“I genuinely believe that there’s heaps of improvement in this side,” he said.
“I think physically we’re the fittest team in the league, and in terms of quality in the attacking third I think we’ve shown enough already to indicate we’re head and shoulders above the rest.
“Defensively we were super strong last season and that’s something that I, and all the players around me, want to improve.
“We know that it’s probably the last thing we need to do to get us on the right track for the rest of the season.
“We’ve started off quite well but we feel that we’ve still go much more to give which is an indication of the expectations we place upon ourselves.”
Looking ahead to Friday’s game against Perth Glory, Zullo was bullish about the attitude of the team, declaring that the Sky Blues were confident that they could deal with the Western Australian outfits potent offense.
“To be honest I don’t think it matters who we come up against, we expect to keep a clean sheet every single game,” he said.
“It’s something that set us up well for the title last year, and its something that’s underrated a lot in world football.
“We go out there every single game to keep a clean sheet and if we do that we’re confident that we’ll win the game.”
