Hard Work Worth It – Brillante

Sydney FC midfielder Josh Brillante can see the hard working paying off for the Sky Blues in the lead up to this weekend’s clash against Perth Glory at Allianz Stadium.

Whilst others were celebrating the festive period, Brillante says the focus was purely on training, recovering and further improving from the emphatic win against Wellington, and there’ll be no let up against the West Australians in the final clash of 2017.

“There wasn’t much [celebrating at Christmas], we’ve just been training and recovering and it’s working for us,” Brillante said.

“It was great to get the win away like that [against Wellington], it brings the boys closer at this time of year.

“There’s still plenty of room for improvement which is a good thing and we’re looking forward to the next match.”

Despite Perth’s recent run of form, Brillante insisted the squad are focused purely on their own performance and maintaining their proud undefeated record at ‘Fortress Allianz Stadium’.

“They’ve had a couple of good results of late but we have this undefeated at home and we want to make it hard for anyone to come here and play us,” he said.

“We always play our style and we’ll be looking to do the same this week. We’re not focused on them at all, we want them to be worried about us. We’re dangerous all over the park.”

The facts back up Brillante’s comments with the Sky Blues scoring 70 goals across the fixture in 38 games, being more than any other opponent. Golden Boot leader Bobô is the natural choice to increase this with four goals in his five games against Saturday night’s opponents.

At the opposite end, Andrew Redmayne and his stellar back four will look to keep their fifth clean sheet in seven matches against Glory, further bolstering their stats as the best defence in the league.

Another win at ‘Fortress Allianz’ will mark 637 days undefeated at the ground and Sydney FC’s eighth consecutive in competitive matches against Perth.

Sydney FC take on Perth Glory at Allianz Stadium on Saturday in their final clash of 2017 (kick off 7:50pm AEDT). Kids go free, be at Allianz Stadium to back your Sky Blues or catch the match live on Fox Sports 501.
