For Sydney FC Westfield W-League Star Ally Green, the round four clash against Melbourne City will be even more special, as she returns to the ground she calls home.

The 21-year-old is set to play her second Sydney FC game at Cromer Park since first signing from Manly United just over two years ago.

And Green says she loves the support she gets from family and friends in the area where she grew up.

“We had a game there last year and it was just amazing,” she said.

“I came on off the bench and the overwhelming aspect of the crowd roaring, even when the weather wasn’t great that day, the crowd was still amazing.

“I’ll have my own big posse [fan-base] turning up to this game so it will be amazing for me.

“I’m super excited to do it all again.”

It couldn’t have come at a better time for Green either, with the left-back starting every game for the Sky Blues so far this season. She has also helped the team defensively, conceding just one goal in the opening three games.

“[On starting every game] I think it’s just confidence. Fighting your way into a squad with such talent and high quality players definitely helps you with your qualities which makes you hungrier to retain your spot,” Green said.

“The good form at the back all comes down to the familiarisation of the players around us. Even though we’ve had some players out, we’ve been able to fill in the spots and get the job done each game.

“Unfortunately, we did concede that one on Sunday [Against Perth], but even then we’re still pretty strong at the back and everyone knows their role which definitely helps,” she said.

The Sky Blues take on one of the other undefeated sides in the competition in Melbourne City but Green believes the home-ground advantage will help them continue their fine form.

“On paper, they are highly regarded and have quality players you have to watch out for,” she added.

“But in the end it’ll come down to who wants it more, and being at home is going to be an advantage for us.”
