Get Creative With Sydney FC’s Third Kit Design

Do you dream of seeing your club play in a jersey you created? Do you want that shirt plastered over the back pages of the papers as the players celebrate victory? It’s not too late for this to potentially become a reality.

Do you dream of seeing your club play in a jersey you created? Do you want that shirt plastered over the back pages of the papers as the players celebrate victory? It-s not too late for this to potentially become a reality.

We-re at the halfway mark of Sydney FC-s third jersey design competition and there is still plenty of time to submit your creation ahead of Friday-s cut-off date.

Be as creative as you want, there is no limit to what you can design. Sydney is sky blue, and what could be a better homage to this than the players playing with an image of the Sydney sky-line across the front of their shirts.

Have a better picture? Add it to your jersey design and show it off to us. Push the boundaries of design and colour and create something unique.

The last time the Sky Blues played in a Member created kit, we defeated current Premier-s Brisbane Roar 2-1 at Allianz Stadium.

Youngster Peter Triantis scored the winner in that fixture and he said he was honoured to play in a kit designed by our Members.

“The kit was excellent and it was a really good design,” Triantis said.

“It was a privilege to play in a shirt designed by one of our Members and it gave me and the boys a lift before the game.

“Scoring the winner made it extra special and hopefully it will live long in the memory of the Member who designed it.”

Adam Walter, the man who created last season-s third kit, said he tried to keep within the design parameters of the existing home and away kits and couldn-t believe it when he was announced as the winner.

“Basically the first thing I wanted to do was go white for the template,” Adam said.

“The club had used that before and with our home kit being sky blue and the away black the last couple of years I thought it was a good opportunity to go back to that and also keep it within the design that the kits were last year with the pinstripes.

“When I was told I-d won I was ecstatic. It was surreal,” he continued.

“It didn-t really sink in to be honest. It-s one of those things, you go into a competition like that and you never think you-re going to win so I was pretty blown away by it.”

Adam said he still holds fond memories of the game that his shirt was used in and offered some advice to those trying to design the third jersey for next season.

“To see all the players in it was amazing,” he said.

“The special thing that happened from it was Peter Triantis scoring the final goal, it was great and it was definitely the biggest memory I took away from it.

“Be original, but think outside the box and have a theme. I-d personally like to see a bit of orange in there as well.

“It-s a colour that we had in the early days and I think if we could get a bit of orange in there it would be great.”

Members can use their own design program, the design template or the adidas miTeam design application to create their kit before submitting the design to sfcshirtcomp@sydneyfc.com by the deadline of Friday the 28th of March. Alternatively you can submit a picture or photo as the basis for your design via email, mail or in person.
