Gan Relishing Chance To Learn

Two weeks is a long time between football games and when the matches are major semi finals the wait seems even longer.

However, for Sydney FC midfielder Brendan Gan the two-week hiatus between games has been somewhat of a benefit for the Sky Blues.

“It has been good to have the break that we have had,” Gan said.

“It-s allowed us to get our injured players back and put a full strength squad out there.

“It-s been good in a way for us but it-s just a week off, it-s not really anything that is a major drastic change, or anything like that so we are going to go out there and prepare this week like we normally would and get out there and win.”

Making his Hyundai A-League debut only 15 months ago, Brendan Gan is already enjoying success that has eluded many great players.

Having already won the inaugural National Youth League championship Gan added an A-League Premiership to his collection and is now eying off the A-League Championship but despite his seemingly easy success Gan has his two feet firmly on the ground and is just grateful to be part of a successful team.

“It-s been an honour to play with the players in the team. We have got so much experience,” Gan said.

“Just to learn off them is one of my goals of the year, to learn how to play actual football.

“Just to be breaking into that starting line up is amazing for and hopefully I can keep that spot.”

Sydney FC needs to beat Melbourne at the SFS on Sunday to ensure a home Grand Final and Gan is heading into the blockbuster confident he and his teammates know what is needed to secure the home grand final.

“I am just going out there to play my own game. I think with the team in general we are going out there to play our style,” Gan said

“We don-t want to get sucked into playing their style. We know what we have got to do and we are going to go out there and do it. “

After winning the Premiership in front of a vocal home crowd in the final round Gan is hoping that the Sky Blue faithful return in even greater numbers this time around, as he knows what a difference an intimidating home crowd can make.

“Hopefully they all get out there and support their home team,” Gan added.

“I think that is when we really back ourselves on winning when the crowd is there and supporting us, cheering for us. So hopefully they get out there and it-s a big crowd.

“It-s going to be a big game and I think we are all pretty confident.”
