Football has returned, and first up for the Sky Blues is a home clash against the Wellington Phoenix on July 17th.

The clubs have contested this fixture twice already in Season 2019/20, and we’ll be taking a look back at both encounters ahead of a potential Premiership decider next month.

Head Coach Steve Corica and Head Coach Ufuk Talay’s men first met in Round 2 at Leichhardt Oval in October, 2019.

The Sky Blues dominated possession and were rewarded early through a deflected Brandon O’Neill effort before Ulises Davilla restored parity just after the hour mark.

With both sides have 23 shots at goal, it came to Rhyan Grant to score the decisive winner for the Sky Blues with under 20 minutes remaining.

The Sky Blues and the Phoenix second encounter came in December 2019, in an enthralling clash at Westpac Stadium which saw the points shared in a 2-2 draw.

It was the new Zealander’s who had the bulk of the possession, however it was the Sky Blues who’d prove more economical in front of goal from their five shots, as Adam Le Fondre and a Steven Taylor own goal played in Sydney FC’s favour.

The draw ensured the Sky Blues remained in top spot as the New Year edged closer.

Here’s how the two teams stack up so far in Season 2019/20:
