Sydney FC skipper Terry McFlynn believes the fighting spirit shown by the team to beat Melbourne Heart is part of the culture of the club.

The Sky Blues were behind for most of the game but showed a never-say-die attitude to score two late goals and record a 2-1 win at Allianz Stadium.

“I think it-s ingrained in the club,” said the FC captain. “I think we-ve shown that over the years.

“We-ve either come back from behind in games or had games that have been 0-0 or 1-1 and gone on to win late in proceedings.

The Sky Blues capacity not to give up has also been evident in recent matches against Perth Glory and the Central Coast Mariners.

“It-s something that we-ve had to do this season in particular, so it-s something that we keep focused on and keep working on, day in, day out,” he continued.

The three points against Melbourne has lifted Sydney off the bottom of the ladder and within two points of a finals place, with another home game against table dwellers Wellington this Saturday.

“It was very important for us to win the (Heart) game,” continued Terry. “We have to start clawing our way up the table and we-ve clawed ourselves off the bottom now, so that will give our confidence a massive boost.

“With Wellington coming to Allianz Stadium we-re hoping to get a big crowd and get the fans out and support us, as they did last night.

“They were fantastic again as they have been all season.”

That huge game for Sydney FC against Wellington takes place this Saturday evening with kick off at 5,30pm and tickets priced at just $25 for adults, available from Ticketek. Let’s Stop The Phoenix Rising and take another step towards finals football!!
