Sydney FC’s Holiday Clinics have come to a close for the festive period with fantastic numbers across the board highlighting the summer sessions.
The clinics began in December, as the heart of Sydney welcomed the Sky Blues for a clinic at Centennial Parklands with 70 children taking park in the inaugural clinic to be held on the Queens Park fields.
Cranbrook school then welcomed over 70 children as they hosted the first of four Sydney FC Holiday clinics to take place during the New Year in a busy schedule during the AFC Asian Cup break.
The ever popular Macquarie University clinic returned for 2015 with 103 children participating in the three day session held at Sydney FC’s training base. Here the kids were treated to an exclusive signing session with the entire Hyundai A-League squad as everything from football boots to shirts and footballs were signed.
Rounding out the clinics for summer was the Abbotsford Junior Football Club and AJFC Girls Holiday Clinics.
Held, for the first time, between Wednesday 21 January and Friday 23 January, the Abbotsford clinics saw 80 children take part as they received coaching from players Max Burgess, Seb Ryall and George Timotheou during their mini-World Cup.
With a grand total of 325 children taking part in Sydney FC’s summer clinics, leader and former Socceroo and Sky Blue Paul Reid expressed delight at the numbers for each clinic and the way they panned out.
“Sydney FC’s School Holiday Clinics are a great way to hone your skills over the summer break,” Reid said.
“The numbers at our clinics were fantastic and I think with the experienced coaches we have every child can walk away knowing that they’re improving as footballers.
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed coaching the kids this summer and I’m looking forward to seeing them all again when our next series of Holiday Clinics start up in April.”
