The Premier League veteran returns to the Sydney team for tomorrow-s home derby clash with the Central Coast Mariners, lining up alongside the 17 year old he believes will go far.
“He-s got all the ability in the world so if he applies himself, which I-m sure he will because he-s a good kid, works hard in training and has got a level head, I think he-ll go a long way.
“He-s had a great start to the season and come February the next qualifier, obviously it-s a dead rubber, if he continues in this form then it-s a possibility.”
Before that game against Saudi Arabia the pair will look to continue the club-s rise up the league starting at the Sydney Football Stadium on Saturday night.
Emerton is hoping to put on a similar show to the last match at home against Gold Coast United.
“Let-s hope we can score another 3 and not concede a couple. It was a great outing the last time I think all of the players and all of the fans really enjoyed it.
“Hopefully they turn out again and we put on another good show.”
Goals are now flowing for Sydney with seven in the last four games, and with the defensive strength evident in last weekend-s 1-0 win at Perth, Brett says it-s a winning combination .
“When I joined the club I had an ambition to hopefully win a trophy with Sydney FC.
“I can-t see any reason with the squad of players that we-ve got here and what I-ve seen in the first six rounds of the season why we can-t achieve that.”
