Sydney FC midfielder Brett Emerton is set to be recalled to the starting eleven against Perth Glory on Saturday (ko 5.30 AEDT) while Alessandro Del Piero could also be involved.

The Sky Blues flew out to Western Australia this afternoon with Head Coach Frank Farina admitting his two marquee men are in contention.

“Brett will definitely start, Alessandro will train with us and we-ll assess him at the end of the session and when we get there, but we-ll give him every chance to play,” said Farina.

The Italian World Cup winner hasn-t featured since injuring an ankle against Brisbane two weeks ago but has travelled with the squad and could be involved from the start.

“We-ll see how he is,” said Farina after Friday-s training session. “It-s a 2.30pm kick off so it-s going to be extremely warm over there so we-ll decide that on Saturday.”

Sydney have a good record against the Glory in recent times, losing just once in eleven matches against them.

However Farina isn-t taking anything for granted.

“It-s always a tough gig travelling away from home, particularly to Perth with the long journey, but we-ve got a game plan and will hopefully come away with something.”
