Brett Emerton will play against Adelaide United this weekend, coach Vitezslav Lavicka has confirmed. The Socceroo makes the trip to the Hindmarsh Stadium after missing a training session this week.

Brett Emerton will play against Adelaide United this weekend despite missing a training session earlier this week.

The Socceroo trained today and makes the trip to the Hindmarsh Stadium with coach Vitezslav Lavicka confirming he will be in the starting line-up.

“Yes he will, Brett is ready to train and play this weekend.”

But the injury news isn-t as good for midfielder Shannon Cole who will miss another game with a calf injury.

“Shannon Cole is continuing his treatment programme so is not available,” said the Czech.

Coach Lavicka knows the team face a tough test of their championship credentials against The Reds.

“We have a respect for Adelaide. We saw them play two games. The first one in Perth was a so-so performance but last weekend when they played Melbourne Victory at home they did very well.

“They have dangerous players up front, Van Dijk, they have very good quality players behind him, Vidosic impressed me very well last weekend…..so we have a respect but we have a team target to be successful and do a good job there.”
