Sydney FC star Brett Emerton has been recognised for his family values and Sydney FC is urging Sky Blues fans to help crown “Emmo” as 2012 Philips Sports Dad of the Year by voting for the popular midfielder.

The Philips Sports Dad of the Year award highlights 10 elite athletes across a broad range of sporting fields, giving insights into how they juggle fatherhood with their sporting commitments.

Emerton, who joined Sydney FC last season, made no secret of the fact that family and the desire for his children to grow up in Sydney was one of the reasons he chose to join the Sky Blues when he could have stayed in the English Premier League.

The 32-year-old returned to Sydney with wife Sarah and sons Zach, 5, and Harvey, 2, choosing to put down roots close to his parents and siblings, who have always been amongst his greatest supporters.
