Ellie Brush Returns As Sydney FC Complete W-League Squad

Sydney FC star Ellie Brush has committed her future in Sky Blue as the club completed its W-League squad for Season 2021/22.

Brush returns for her third season with the club having made almost 200 professional appearances across Australia, the United States and Norway in a 13-year career.

She burst onto the scene in the inaugural W-League season captaining Canberra United aged just 20, in 2008 and holds two caps with the Matildas.

Whilst recovering from a knee injury sustained last season, Brush is expected to return to play her part in the Sky Blues Premiership defence, and she said she was excited to be back.

“I’ve definitely got unfinished business from last season, and I can’t wait to get back on the pitch with Sydney FC,” she said.

“My recovery is progressing really well, and I think I’ll be even stronger than before and should be back playing at the end of the year.

“We’ve got a really great squad this season with some solid new additions and I’m confident we can go one better in 2021/22.”

Head Coach Ante Juric welcomed the return of Brush, whilst also confirming goalkeeper Katie Offer has signed on alongside scholarship players Mary Stanic-Floody and Kahli Johnson.

“Ellie has fantastic character and she’s an integral part of our squad so it’s pleasing to see her return,” Juric said.

“I’m hopeful she’ll be back on the park soon and I know she’ll be determined to prove her worth.

“Katie continues to improve and she’ll again compete with Jada for the number 1 spot and I’d like to welcome her back for this season,” he continued.

“I’ve been impressed with Mary and Kahli’s development too and the two scholarship girls will bring added depth to our squad, and it will be pleasing to see them continue to grow alongside our experienced stars.”

Sydney FC’s W-League squad will return to training in the coming weeks ahead of scheduled season start in November.
