Dwight Yorke set for Sydney return

A favoured Sydney FC son will be welcomed back to the Sydney Football Stadium on Sunday, with former marquee man, Dwight Yorke set to make his long-awaited return to the SFS for the first time since he departed Sydney and the Hyundai A-League at the start of the 2006/07 season.

“It-s always great to have Yorkey back in town, he obviously brings a lot of excitement to the city,” said Sydney FC Captain and former team-mate Steve Corica.

Yorke played a crucial role in helping the Sky Blues claim the inaugural Hyundai A-League title in 2005/06. He is back in the Harbour City to promote his new autobiography, and will be guest of honour at Sydney FC-s Round-12 clash with the Brisbane Roar, giving fans the perfect chance to properly farewell the 37-year old legend.

“I think it-s very important for the fans. We (the players) got to say goodbye to him but the fans probably didn-t so it-s a good opportunity for them to do that this weekend,” continued Corica. “Hopefully there-ll be a big crowd there on Sunday.”

Sydney FC will officially thank Dwight for his contribution to the club with a presentation on-field this Sunday, prior to kick-off in the Hyundai A-League clash which gets underway at 5:00pm.
