Hyundai A-League stars Alessandro Del Piero and Emile Heskey have called on Australians of all ages to get ready to ‘Play Football- in the 2013 grassroots season.

The first step to finding a club or to renew your registration is to visit myfootballclub.com.au, Football Federation Australia’s national online registration portal.

More than 550,000 players are expected to register to play outdoor community football in 2013, part of the 1.7 million football participants in Australia.

‘Play Football’ ambassadors Alessandro Del Piero and Emile Heskey have starred in two TVCs that encourage Australians of all ages to join in the fun. The TVCs will run on FOX SPORTS and via FFA digital channels from Monday.

Have fun, make friends and keep active. Play Football.
Find your local football club at myfootballclub.com.au.

Whether you play Optus Small Sided Football or have a dream to play in the Hyundai A-League the best way to start your journey is by registering to play this season.

More than most Alessandro Del Piero knows the benefits of playing football, a sport that has taken him from the playing fields of Conegliano in Italy to the pinnacle of the world game.

“You can learn a lot of things and I think it-s a life experience, a complete experience,” said the 2006 FIFA World Cup winner and Sydney FC number 10.

“First of all when you are young you have to play for fun, really for fun to enjoy it.

“Playing football is very important for your health, it helps take care of your body and your mind also. It helps take care of your complete life.

“I do love it… There-s nothing like it.”

Emile Heskey has played for some of the world-s biggest teams including Liverpool and England. Now at Newcastle Jets he still remembers why he loves to Play Football.

“Going out on the pitch with your friends is always an amazing feeling. Having that camradery brings out the best in everyone; knowing that you-re working the best to achieve something,” said Heskey.

“You-re playing with friends, enjoying the game, having a laugh; You can-t beat it.”

Each year FFA and its Member Federations and Associations embark on a major campaign to encourage Australians to Play Football. Football players, coaches and grassroots club representatives are the game-s greatest advocates.

This season extra incentive is being offered to current players and clubs to encourage new players to kick-start or restart their football participation.

Players and clubs will be able to share in tens of thousands of dollars worth of prizes including Westfield shopping vouchers, training equipment and Sony products.

To win all you need to do is bring in new recruits or re-sign players who weren-t registered in the 2012 season.

All details on how to enter and win can be found at myfootballclub.com.au.

There is also the chance to win $10,000 for your club by submitting an application for Hyundai Goals for Grassroots (www.goalsforgrassroots.com.au). The program has already seen over $300,000 donated to worthy clubs around Australia. Selected clubs also get the chance to feature on FOX SPORTS as well as receive their donation on field at a Hyundai A-League game.

In further support of the ‘Play Football- initiative, Round 20 of the Hyundai A-League (7-10 February) will be ‘Play Football- Round.
