David Carney

David Carney was an inaugural member of Sydney FC’s Hyundai A-League squad and re-joined Sydney FC in the January transfer window of the 2015/16 season. Carney played 38 times for Sydney FC during two seasons for the club between 2005 and 2007, scoring seven goals. Carney was on the score sheet for the Sky Blues during the FIFA Club World Championship in 2005 scoring the goal that secured fifth place in the competition.  He also made his mark scoring in the 2005 Oceania Club Championship and featuring in Sydney FC’s first ever AFC Champions League campaign in 2007. The left footer has been capped 48 times for the Socceroos and has scored six goals.  He represented Australia at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa as well as the 2007 and 2011 Asian Cups.
