Sydney FC’s July High Performance and Talent ID clinics have begun in fine style with 130 young players aged between 5 and 15 years old taking part at the club’s Macquarie Park training base.

Applications for the courses were well in excess of the 130 place limit, with each participant receiving expert coaching from Sydney FC-s High Performance Unit.
The youngsters were also provided with a Sydney FC adidas training kit, an adidas football, a Sydney FC cap and scarf, plus membership of the club-s Junior Blues club, with free entry to all A-League games.
Head coach Ian Crook said, “We’ve been packed out. It is disappointing that we haven-t been able to include everyone but we want to make sure we get good quality into the sessions.
“We need to improve the kids technically and in one on one, two on two situations. We are working very hard with what the FFA curriculum and are giving the kids some freedom to play.”
The three day course is split into a three hour morning session for the 5-10 age group followed by a three hour session for the 11 to 15 age bracket in the afternoon.
A fourth day is then set aside for the youngsters who have shown the most improvement over the three days to come back and receive further training and monitoring from the Sydney FC Head Coach.
“It has been really good up to now and you can see what they are able to produce. We-re just looking to keep continuing to improve them day by day,” Crook continued.
“adidas have been brilliant with the gear, it is top quality and they [the kids] look fabulous. We-ve got a couple of girls out there as well and it would be nice to get more to come along and promote the women-s game at the same time.”
Those players who missed out on the July clinics will get the chance to experience one of Sydney FC-s High Performance courses when they return in September.
