Head Coach Steve Corica says he’s looking forward to his first competitive game as Sky Blues Head Coach, as Sydney FC clash against Rockdale City Suns tomorrow night.

Sydney FC beat the Sutherland Sharks last Wednesday in their second pre-season game which was Corica’s 2nd win as boss and he says he is very keen to start the defence of the club’s FFA Cup title.

“The mood is very positive and I’m looking forward to the first game. Everyone wants to beat us but that’s every game at Sydney FC. There’s always pressure on us to win games,” he said.

“It’s the first major hit out for us and we’re looking forward to it.”

Last year Sydney FC won the FFA Cup for the first time in the club’s history, beating Adelaide United in extra-time.

And Corica is hoping it will also be his first major title in charge.

“It comes down to our attitude and what we want out of the game,” he said.

“Everyone wants to beat us as we’re the holders, but if we get our attitude right we’ll be fine.”

Corica also revealed he has a number of irons in the fire when it comes to potential transfers.

“There are opportunities out there to bring in the right players and players that will score goals for Sydney FC,” he continued.

“We’ve got a couple of under 20 spots as well and we’re looking at younger players to bring into the squad. It’s coming together nicely.”

Tomorrow’s game is at Ilinden Sports Centre and kicks off at 7.30pm.
