Captain’s Column: The Race For Second Spot

header

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all well and getting excited as the Finals Series fast approaches.

With only a couple games remaining the race for second place is heating up. The boys have been hard at training and we know winning these last couple games will secure that second-place finish for us and put us in a great position for the finals.

Being Champions the previous two years, the threepeat is still very much on the cards and finishing second will help a lot in making this a reality.

This would be great for our Members and fans, it’d be another record to add to the Sky Blues’ legacy. The boys are well aware of this, and I’ve seen that on the training field with everyone giving 110%.

Saturday’s game is a big game as we face Adelaide United. This is a crucial game with the ladder so congested.

I would also like to extend a huge congratulations to Andrew Redmayne, Rhyan Grant and Ryan McGowan on their Socceroos selection for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. This is a testament to those lads working hard in training and shows the consistent quality Sydney FC is producing as a club.

Lastly, yesterday’s announcement from the APL regarding the new TV rights deal is hugely exciting for everyone. It’ll be great to be shown on commercial free to air TV and it’s great news for the fans as it makes the world game even more accessible to all Australian homes.

That’s enough from me for now, I’m looking forward to Saturday’s game and hopefully wrapping up second spot. Bring on Adelaide and bring on the Finals Series.

Sydney FC Captain
