Captain’s Column: Picking Up Where We Left Off

header

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well and healthy.

There’s been some positive news recently down in Victoria, and this means the A-League season and matches that have been postponed due to border restrictions can be rescheduled and our season can keep steaming forward.

Looking back at our season so far, I’m very proud of what the lads and I have been able to achieve this season. I think we’re in a very good position for the circumstances.

However, it hasn’t been a perfect start to the season and there is still lots of room for improvement and room to progress up the ladder.

Looking ahead to the game this Saturday, we host the Brisbane Roar in a 7pm AEDT kick off at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium. We’ve had nearly two whole weeks to prepare for this game, so I know the lads are ready and keen to get out there.

We’ve really hit our stride the last three games and we’re keen to bring the tally up on our outstanding record in Kogarah.

Brisbane Roar have had a good start, some great results and scored quite a few goals which is great for the league, so we need to ensure we pick up where we left off.

Two weeks off is obviously not ideal, a big break between games doesn’t help build momentum, but you have to be flexible in these times and we made up for it by having an internal game on Saturday to make sure everyone is up to scratch fitness wise.

I hope to see all our Sky Blue Members and fans out in Kogarah, with it being a more compact stadium it gives us such a boost seeing all the Sky Blue shirts in the stands.

I know the lads are getting restless waiting so long between games, so we’ve got plenty of built-up energy ready to put a display out there for the all our Members and fans, and anyone watching from home.

Make sure to stay safe, and if you are attending please remember to follow the COVID-19 safety plans that have been set out.
