Captain’s Column: No Rest Now As Champions League Starts

Thumbnail

How good does three points feel! It was a well-worked win in Campbelltown and one we were deserving of that’s for sure.

Whether I’m starting or coming on off the bench it’s nice to play a part and help the team move towards our end goal of another Premiers Plate and Championship.

There’s really no rest for us now, the AFC Champions League kicks off next Wednesday and we’re all eagerly looking forward to hosting Ulsan Hyundai at Jubilee Stadium.

It’s a time where looking after our bodies is paramount, it’s why I spend a lot of time pre-match ensuring I’m well stretched and taped up and post-match jump straight in the ice baths.

We’re fortunate we have fantastic strength and conditioning and medical teams to ensure we’re at peak performance each and every week, and I expect our AFC Champions League games to have no impact on our Hyundai A-League performance.

Training at Leichhardt Oval today was great, we had an excellent atmosphere there in our last game and I can’t look at the hill without picturing it as a sea of Sky Blue.

I’m disappointed to be suspended for Friday’s game but I’ll be backing the boys 100% at Leichhardt Oval and riding every moment along with them as if I was on the field.

Off the pitch I’m continuing my work with Common Goal and it was great to welcome our latest member to the team, Godsway Donyoh from FC Nordsjaelland. I sent him a quick video message along with other members of the Common Goal team from across the world.

We’re down to the pointy end of the season now, it’s all getting very exciting and I’m sure you, like I, are keen to get the games underway. Bring on Friday night, bring on another three points!
