Captain’s Column: Get Back To Winning Ways

Winning is a habit and this club has been very good at that over the last few years and we need to get back to that as soon as possible.

These next four games are about building for the Finals and that’s what we’ll be focussing on now. They’re important because they’re against teams we could be playing in the Semi-Finals so it’s vital that we put a marker down, put in a good performance and get back to winning ways.

I think heads are clear now, I don’t really think they were unclear beforehand, I just think they were two pretty poor, uncharacteristic performances from us. Now it’s about getting a reaction from the playing group, making things right, and that’s what we’ll be doing on Thursday night.

Adelaide have been in good form since Carl Veart took over and since we’ve come back from the COVID break they’ve won two and drawn one so they’re in good form, he’s got them playing some good football.

They’ll be another challenge, they’ll be desperate because they haven’t secured their spot in the top six yet so there’ll be everything to play for for them, but at the same time for us because we’ve got our own goals and our own ambitions and we want to get back to winning ways.

It’s crazy that we’re still playing.

We came back for pre-season in July last year so we’ve been training now for over a year, 13 months and the season is just a never ending season but we’re really happy it’s back and all football lovers are happy we’re back.

It’s nice to be back playing regularly and looking forward to the next few games and the finals.

Stay safe and don’t forget to tune in!
