Camilleri Hoping For Derby Double

Sydney FC’s Trudy Camilleri is hungry to make it two from two this Sunday against Western Sydney Wanderers at Sydney United Sports Centre, Edensor Park (kick off 3pm).

The Westfield W-league’s first Sydney derby of the 2014 season attracted a record crowd and resulted in a 2-0 victory to Sydney FC and Camilleri is confident her team are in the best position to secure another three points in front of even more spectators.

“We’re at a pretty good stage of the competition now and I am very confident in the girls,” she said.

“We are confident as a team so I definitely think we can make it two from two and hopefully this match brings in as many spectators as last time or even more.”

Last weekend’s match against top of the table Perth Glory saw the Sky Blue’s first loss of the season, going down 1-0, but Camilleri says the defeat has only given her team more fight.

“It just makes us hungrier. If you have a loss, the next game determines whether you can bounce back or not,” Camilleri said.

“It has only made us more determined and driven to be even better than we were.”

The 23-year-old midfielder has played alongside the Western Sydney Wanderers in previous years but says this won’t have any bearing on the match ahead.

“It’s not daunting,” she said.

“I love playing for Sydney FC and the Wanderers are in the past so hopefully I can just play as if it’s another game.”

Camilleri says this season’s squad are strong enough to take the end title, and being part of Sydney FC is the perfect avenue to reach her own individual goals.

“Everybody has bonded and gelled so well,” she said.

“I am very confident we will make the final four and when we do get there hopefully we can go all the way.

“I want to be starting and playing the best football that I can for the girls, for myself and for the coaches and if I get a mention in coming to the Matildas then I think I’d just scream.”
