Young centre half Aaron Calver will join the first team squad for the New Year-s Eve match in Adelaide as Sydney FC look to back up their 1-0 win over the Central Coast Mariners.

The 16 year old National Youth League defender joins NYL colleagues Peter Triantis and Alec Urosevski in the squad, as Head Coach Frank Farina gives youth a chance.

“They-re doing very well. With youth comes enthusiasm and keenness and that goes over to the older guys as well,” said Farina.

“We-ve had 5 or 6 come up and train with us and this weekend we-ll have Aaron in the squad to travel to Adelaide with Peter and Alec.

“It-s good that we-ve got the boys coming in and they-re enthusiastic so it-s great for the squad.”

The Sky Blues face a second placed Reds who will still be smarting from two consecutive defeats against Western Sydney and Brisbane Roar.

But Farina is more concerned with his own side following up their dramatic win over the league leaders [1-0 over Central Coast Mariners] last time out.

“It-s just a matter of backing that up. We-ve got to get that consistency which we don-t have at the moment and the injury situation doesn-t help us losing players.

“It-s a mental thing, you can do it one week and we really should be getting to the stage where that-s the norm for us where we can perform like that every week.”

Sydney FC’s next home game will be a Finals Series six-pointer against the Melbourne Heart on Sunday 13th January. Tickets are available from Ticketek starting at just $25 for adults. Kick off is at 5pm. It should be an occasion to bring all the family.
