Sydney FC Captain Alex Brosque believes that he’s returning to peak fitness in the lead up to the Hyundai A-League 2018/19 season, as the club Legend continues to impress in pre-season fixtures for the Sky Blues.

After friendlies against Dunbar and Sutherland, Brosque was integral in the side’s 4-2 win over Rockdale City Suns in the FFA Cup last week, scoring two goals, and he produced another solid display against Hakoah on Tuesday night at Leichardt Oval.

Despite the contest finishing as a 0-0 draw, the skipper took plenty of positives from the game.

“Tonight we had a lot more possession but the ball just wouldn’t go in,” he said.

“We’ve still got players to bring in and for the moment, we’ve been scoring lots of goals apart from tonight obviously.

“The young boys are looking good, Charlie and Trent especially, they’ve been playing very well.

“Danny (De Silva) is also looking good with his combinations and it’s all so we are ready for round one”.

With just over two months until the new campaign begins, Brosque is feeling confident in his own preparation.

“I’m slowly starting to feel a lot better” he said.

“The first few weeks back are always tough, getting into the swing of things. [I’m] feeling better as each game goes, and getting some more minutes as well.

“There’s a bigger picture heading into round one, but for now I’m feeling good”.

Sydney FC kick off their Hyundai A-League season away to Adelaide United at Coopers Stadium on Friday 19 October (kick off 7:50pm).
