Sydney FC midfielder Josh Brillante has declared himself ready for Round One as the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 season kicks off on Saturday.
Representing the Sky Blues at the Season Launch in Melbourne on Tuesday, Brillante said his excitement levels had peaked ahead of Sydney FC’s season opening Grand Final re-match away against Melbourne at Etihad Stadium (kick off 7:50pm).
“I’m ready to go, the body is feeling good, there’s still room for improvement going into the season but I’m feeling in good shape,” Brillante said.
“It’s been a really enjoyable pre-season. It’s been a good solid hit out with a lot of friendly games.
“I can’t wait for round one,” he continued.
“Seeing all the players from all the other teams together at the launch [on Tuesday], it’s quite exciting knowing the season is only a week away and I’m really excited for the season to start.
“It’s going to be a good test [against Melbourne] first up, a good match and tough team so we’re expecting a good game.”
Brillante said he was confident of defending the Sky Blues 2016/17 titles as he praised the new additions to the Head Coach Graham Arnold’s squad.
“I think the new players will be great assets to our team,” he said.
“The way they play they’ve fit in superbly and they’ll be a great advantage this season.
“I’m very confident [of doing it all again],” he continued.
“With the team we have and the way we play, I know from the pre-season that we’ve had how our performances will go and I know we’ll be hard to beat.
“Off the back of last season, it’s great motivation to show what we can really do again.”
