The visitors dominated possession for large parts of the opening period, but struggled to break down the home side-s defence, in a match dominated by the stunning return to Australian football of former Socceroo goal-keeper, Mark Bosnich.
The veteran custodian was brilliant in denying Sydney several times, including a 70th minute spot penalty save off Steve Corica.
At the other end of the field a first half goal to Bradley Porter, and second half finishes from Sasho Petrovski and Nik Mrdja sealed Sydney FC-s fate.
Their final preliminary game in the Pre-Season Cup will be played against the Wellington Phoenix in Wollongong next weekend.
