Best In The Country Says Arnold

Ahead of Saturday’s massive Sydney Derby at Allianz Stadium, Head Coach Graham Arnold has labelled his Sky Blues as the best team in the country.

The Sky Blues boss said a combination of their opening two rounds performances would pay dividends on Saturday night in a match he’s stated he expects to win.

“I think if we match round one where our defence was fantastic with round two where our attack was fantastic that’s our aim [for Saturday night],” Arnold said.

“If we match those two together, which we will on Saturday night, then we’ll show the class we have.

“We’re only functioning at 30 to 35% at the moment and on Saturday I’m expecting a top performance.

“Moving forward we believe we are the best team in the country, we believe we have a top squad of players that’ll be greater than last season and it’s time we started showing that,” he continued.

“We’ve got a team of winners, the boys turn up every day to prepare to win and we go out onto the field expecting to win on Saturday night. The boys know it’s a derby, they know what it’s about.

“I know that we will provide and produce our best performance on Saturday night.”

Arnold Story 1

Arnold provided good news on star Adrian Mierzejewski saying he’d be provided until the last minute to prove his fitness, as he praised the Sky Blues supporter group The Cove for their continued efforts.

“Preparations have been great we recovered well from the games last week and the boys are in a fantastic mood and fantastic spirits, everyone is ready to go,” he said.

“Adrian ran this morning and we’ll leave it right until kick off to decide [whether he plays] but he’s looking good at the moment.

“All we do is focus on ourselves and prepare ourselves to win the game,” Arnold continued.

“They’ve got to come to our fortress on Saturday night, we’ve got a great record there and we expect to win the game.

“We know how boisterous our fans are, The Cove are the best supporter group in the country in all codes, they have great support behind the goals and we know who makes the most noise.”
