Sydney FC new boy Kosta Barbarouses said he can’t wait for his home Sky Blue debut at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday against the Wellington Phoenix.

Looking forward to having The Cove on his side, Barbarouses is confident of building a great relationship with the Sky Blues supporter group after signing a multi-year deal in June.

“I can’t wait for my home debut,” Barbarouses said.

“I think there were some great signs from our performance last week and we want to build on that and I’m excited to get out there as a Sydney FC player.

“The Cove have always been a fantastic fan base even from the outside looking in for many years,” he continued.

“It looks like they love their team and players and I’m really looking forward to building a good relationship with them and the fans.”

The New Zealand international said Friday’s Round 1 performance against Adelaide was a preview of things to come, as he set his sights on building on that thrilling 3-2 win at Coopers Stadium against his former club, the Wellington Phoenix.

“I think everyone can expect another improvement this week,” Barbarouses said.

“We were really good in parts of last week’s game but I think we can be better for longer, we will achieve that and this weekend will be another chance for us to put in a good performance.”

The Sky Blues take on Wellington Phoenix this Sunday 20th October at Leichhardt Oval (kick off 6pm AEDT). Get there to back your Sky Blues with tickets available online now, watch on Fox Sports 505 or follow @SydneyFC on Twitter for live updates from the clash.
