Back to the future for Sydney Stars

Every star has to start somewhere and this week Sydney FC footballers, Alex Brosque and Matt Jurman returned to their roots, casting an eye over some of the stars of the future at the Football New South Wales- Centenary Cup in Wollongong.

Having competed in the annual under-12s tournament himself as an 11-year old with Southern Districts, Brosque was impressed with the standard on show.

“There are some good young players running around out there,” said Sydney FC-s reigning player of the season. “I have some good memories of my junior football so it-s good to be able to get out and give something back, and the response from the kids has been great.”

Brosque and Jurman travelled to the Centenary Cup as part of Sydney FC-s ongoing Community program, with all players spending time visiting clubs and associations in the lead-up to the start of pre-season training.

The visits will continue across Sydney over the second week of the school holidays. The team will begin pre-season training on April 27.
