Arnold Urges Greater Execution In Clashes

Sydney FC Head Coach Graham Arnold has called for a greater execution from his squad ahead of Saturday’s clash at Allianz Stadium against Perth (kick off 7:50pm AEDT).

Not content with winning 4-1 against Wellington, Arnold has urged his squad to be more ruthless, stating that greater scorelines are in store for the Sky Blues’ faithful with each week of improvement that comes.

“I was pretty angry after the Wellington game because I thought our performances need to be much better and greater than what they are,” Arnold said.

“At 2-0 you go for the kill and we let them back in the game at 2-1 and it should have been 3-0, 4-0 and then go for a greater score than that.

“”That is in us, we have plenty of improvement left in us and it’s my job to get that out of them.

“We expect every week our performance to get greater and greater, our last three results 4-1, 3-1, 5-0, have been good but we need to get greater and that’s the purpose of training every week and what we do on the training pitch.

“I can see there’s a lot of improvement that’s come from our front four and I can also see the improvement will get greater and greater as the season goes on.

“I’m excited about the performance that we’ll get tomorrow night.”

The Sky Blues’ boss is confident of eclipsing the club’s record breaking 2016/17 season, setting the goal of surpassing their 66 point haul in season 2017/18.

“We’re expecting to win tomorrow night, we will win tomorrow night,” Arnold said.

“I truly believe, and the belief in the players I’ve got, is that we’re going to have a greater season than what we had last year of 66 points. T

“That’s our goal, to beat that, at this moment we’re 31 from 36 and it’s about being 34 from 39 tomorrow.”
