Arnold Hopeful Of Exploiting Victory’s Weakness

While he won’t divulge what he’s seen, Sydney FC Head Coach Graham Arnold is confident he’s found weaknesses he can exploit on Saturday night when the Sky Blues take on Melbourne Victory at Etihad Stadium (kick off 7:30pm).

Arnold said his squad were looking forward to facing Melbourne Victory, with memories of their 5-0 triumph last season still fresh in the memory, and that they’re full of confidence despite the defeat to Perth Glory on Thursday.

“Defensively we have to be very strong and give nothing away,” Arnold said.

“We’ve analysed them again this week and hopefully I can expose a few of their weaknesses that I’ve seen so it will be a matter of just going down there and sticking to the game plan.

“The confidence is high. The boys are excited to play against Melbourne Victory, they always are, and it’s a tough game for us,” he continued.

“We’re looking forward to playing in front of a big crowd at Etihad and we’re going to have to be at the top of our game.

“Melbourne Victory are a big test for us this weekend. Any team that can win 3-0 on a cricket pitch has to be favourites for the A-League.”

The former Socceroos Head Coach said he himself was pleased with the Sky Blues performance against Perth as he confirmed he had almost a full squad to select from ahead of Saturday night’s game in Victoria.

“I was very happy with the first 80 minutes [last week],” he said.

“I think we controlled the game and did very well for the first 80 minutes and after analysing the game it was probably our most consistent performance over the 80 minutes.

“Overall I was very happy with the performance and we just need to build on that.

“Everyone is ok, there’s still only a few question marks over Sasa Ognenovski with his injury.”
