Sydney FC are proud to announce that Sky Blues youngster Terry Antonis has been nominated as the March nominee for the NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award 2013/14.

After missing the first 19 rounds, Antonis returned for a match against the Perth Glory, scoring the winning goal, and Antonis has made every post a winner since getting back onto the field.

Antonis was ecstatic to be nominated for the prestigious award.

“It-s great to be back and playing and this nomination has given me even more of a boost,” Antonis said.

“Hopefully we can continue to build on our performance against Wellington when we play Perth Glory this Sunday at Allianz Stadium and book our place in the Hyundai A-League Finals Series.”

“I-d like thank all of our coaching and medical staff for helping me to get back on the field and also the club for their faith in me, hopefully I can continue to repay that faith.”

Terry Antonis is the sixth and final nominee for the annual award and joins Trent Sainsbury (October) and Adam Taggart (November), Storm Roux (December), Dimitri Petratos (January) and Josh Brillante (Newcastle Jets).

Trent, Adam, Storm, Dimitri, Josh and Terry are now in line for the title of NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award 2013/14 which will be announced at the Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League 2013/14 Awards Night on Monday 28 April in Sydney.

Tim Clarke, Head of NAB Sponsorship said he is delighted to see the NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award continue to unearth future stars of the game.

“We congratulate Terry Antonis on his nomination and look forward to watching his development and growth on the football field in the years to come,” said Mr Clarke.

“We are also pleased to recognise Terry-s nominated club, Marconi Stallions and hope that our support will help the club to continue developing the game at a local grassroots level.”

NAB has generously donated a $1,500 equipment pack and $1,000 in a NAB Community Saver Account to Terry-s chosen junior club.

The overall winner of the NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award 2013/14 will receive a $10,000 NAB personal investment portfolio, along with a NAB Private Client Manager to assist with a range of banking and financial services.

“As a supporter of the NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award, NAB is proud to play an important role in identifying and rewarding tomorrow-s stars of the game. Who knows, we may even see some of the nominees donning the boots for the Socceroos in the future,” Mr Clarke continued.

Each month representatives from the football media and the FFA Technical department vote on a 3-2-1 basis for the most outstanding U-21 players in the Hyundai A-League during that period.
