Fyfe was the first outfield player to make 50 Hyundai A-League appearances for Sydney FC after missing only one match - against Adelaide United during the 2006 Hyundai A-League Finals Series - and that due to suspension in the competition's first two seasons. A regular at centre back during Sydney FC's 2005/06 Hyundai A-League championship-winning campaign, Fyfe spent much of the following season at right back and now finds himself on the other flank, either as a left back or left-sided stopper. Fyfe has represented Australia at all levels except the top one and he has been desperately unlucky not to collect a Qantas Socceroos cap, featuring in several squads without taking to the field. Fyfe is an important player to Sydney FC because of his demonstrated ability to play in any defensive position.
